Jason Asemota, a small forward for the Baylor Bears, plans to enter the Transfer Portal. Joe Tipton reported this move. Asemota just finished his freshman season. He came from Hillcrest Prep in Arizona and is originally from Massachusetts.
Asemota is a four-star recruit in the Class of 2024. He ranked 46th nationally and 15th among small forwards. Analyst Jamie Shaw said, "Jason Asemota has an excellent frame. He has good length and the size you need as you move faster. He is a theoretical shooter. When his feet are set, his form is steady and the ball goes in. His size and touch show clear promise. Yet, he has processing issues that may affect his consistency. He needs to work on his handle and scoring moves, and learn counters off the bounce."
During the 2024-25 season at Baylor, Asemota played in 24 games. He averaged 6.3 minutes per game. He scored 1.6 points, grabbed 1.5 rebounds, and made 0.2 assists per game. His shooting was 32.6% from the field, 25% from the three-point line, and 50% from free throws. On defense, he averaged 0.3 steals and 0.2 blocks per game.
Before joining Baylor, Asemota said he trusted his shot. "I am really confident in my shot. I’ve improved at attacking the rim or using my one-dribble pull-up," he explained. He draws inspiration from Khris Middleton, who is known for his smooth dribble moves and scoring style.
Last season, Baylor finished with a 20-15 record. They went 10-10 in Big 12 play, which tied them for seventh in the conference. The Bears played in the NCAA Tournament. They won one game before falling to Duke in the second round, marking their fourth straight exit at that stage.
