Quadir Copeland, Former McNeese State Guard, Commits to NC State
Quadir Copeland, a guard from McNeese State, now commits to NC State. He entered the NCAA Transfer Portal on April 3. His decision moves NC State’s basketball team forward.
At McNeese State, he played one season. He transferred from Syracuse, where he spent his first two college years. At McNeese, he played in 35 games. In 24 games, he was a starter. He averaged 9.2 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 4.5 assists per game. His field-goal rate was 48.8%. He took 26 three-point shots and made 15.4% of them.
In the NCAA Tournament, he shined. He helped McNeese upset Clemson in the first round. In that game, he scored 16 points, grabbed seven rebounds, and handed out five assists. He shot 5 for 8 on his field attempts. His hard work earned him a spot on the All-Southland Conference Second Team and the All-Tournament Team.
Before McNeese, he played 52 games at Syracuse over two years. He started only once there. In his sophomore season, he reached a career-high average of 9.6 points and 4.6 rebounds per game.
In high school at Life Center Academy in Pennsylvania, he earned three stars. On3 ranked him as the No. 132 overall player. They also named him the No. 19 combo guard in the 2022 class.
Though Copeland is new at NC State, there is a hint of old ties. Will Wade, his new head coach, once led McNeese State to an NCAA Tournament appearance. Another ex-McNeese player, Alyn Breed, also now joins NC State via the transfer portal.
Fans hope Copeland and Breed bring a fresh spirit. NC State had a slow 2023-24 season, ending with a 12-19 record and just 5-15 in the ACC. They placed last in the conference and missed the ACC Tournament.
Now, with Will Wade starting at NC State, the team looks to turn their fortunes around. For more player news, follow On3 Transfer Portal updates on social media.
