The first two days of the 2025 NCAA women’s basketball tournament are over. Teams now train for the second round. The Sunday and Monday matchups are set. This news lifts excitement and hope.
On Saturday, play in the Spokane 4 Region took a twist. No. 10 seed South Dakota State fought back hard. They beat No. 7 seed Oklahoma State. This win gave them a spot in the Round of 32. They join Oregon as the only two double-digit seeds to move on this year.

The opening round gave more surprises. No. 9 Mississippi State upset No. 8 seed Cal. They won with a score of 59-46. The Bulldogs led the game. In the second half, they held the Golden Bears to just 25% shooting.
Most games, though, followed the usual pattern. All the No. 1 and No. 2 seeds won. Many of these wins were strong and clear.
Sunday begins the Round of 32. Soon, teams will fight to reach the Sweet Sixteen, which starts next week. Basketball fans have a lot more action to enjoy as the tournament goes on.
