Magoon Gwath Declares Return to San Diego State Basketball

Magoon Gwath today declares his return. He stays as an Aztec. On Tuesday, he posts on Instagram. He removes his name from the transfer portal. Fans cheer his clear voice. They sense his deep bond with his team.

The NCAA transfer portal buzzes with excitement. Big schools look to add him. Gwath, however, chooses San Diego State. He stays for one season and eyes the NBA Draft later. In his post, he writes, “Home is where the heart is. Staying home! I am excited to share that I am removing my name from the transfer portal. If I return to school next season, it will be as an Aztec! Thank you for your continued support as I go through the 2025 NBA Draft process.” His words link loyalty with his bold goal.

Earlier, On3’s Joe Tipton says Kentucky Wildcats might land him. Kentucky coach Mark Pope, known for smart transfer moves, shows interest too. Gwath remains with his team, and the Aztecs win a big stay.

Last season, Gwath breaks out at San Diego State. In 26 games, he scores an average of 8.5 points. He shoots 50.6% from the field and 37.8% from three-point range. He grabs 5.2 rebounds and records 2.6 blocks each game. These strong stats earn him titles like Mountain West Defensive Player of the Year, a spot on the All-Defensive Team, and Mountain West Freshman of the Year. Each number and award links back to his hard work.

Gwath grew up in Euless, Texas. He played at Trinity High School and finished his prep at Veritas Prep in Garden Grove, California. Top programs such as Oregon, USC, Oregon State, and Villanova show interest. Yet his heart stayed with the Aztecs.

This news bolsters San Diego State. It cements the team’s core for the next season. The text links each idea closely with simple, clear words to aid understanding.
