Michigan State Secures Talented Transfer Kaleb Glenn to Bolster Roster
By Josh Yourish
Michigan State University now adds forward Kaleb Glenn to its team. Glenn comes from the Florida Atlantic Owls. He is a two-time transfer who fits well with Coach Tom Izzo’s style. The Spartans need his skills to help defend their Big Ten regular season title.
For 27 years, Coach Izzo has held a clear view of what makes a Spartan player. The roster will change soon. Star freshman Jase Richardson may join the NBA. Veteran guard Tre Holloman enters the transfer portal. Jaden Akins will soon end his eligibility. Izzo needs players who follow his simple rules. Glenn, a dynamic 6-foot-7 wing, meets this plan with his strong athletic skills.
Glenn shone in his sophomore season at FAU. He averaged 12.6 points and collected 4.8 rebounds per game. His freshman year at Louisville was hard. Under Coach John Jakus, he built up his game. Now, he returns to a top conference in East Lansing.
Glenn now shows his long-range shooting. He reached over 40 percent from three-point range at FAU while taking about 3.4 shots per game. At Louisville, he made only 1 of 7 tries. His size lets him spread the floor well. He can shoot as a trailer in transition or from the corner. Still, his athletic moves caught Coach Izzo’s eye.
Glenn leaps with great force in fast play. Almost half his shots come at the rim, where he makes 68 percent. He ranks high, in the 90th percentile, for scoring in transition with 1.4 points per possession. His quick moves drive fast-break points. Last season, Michigan State averaged 15.6 fast-break points per game. They scored 20.1 percent of their total points from fast breaks.
Glenn is not the main scorer. Yet, he brings key role-player skills. His game fits well in Coach Izzo’s system. With him in the lineup, the Spartans hope for another strong season in the Big Ten.
Michigan State moves to secure its top spot in the conference. Kaleb Glenn’s arrival may boost its championship dreams.
