Georgia Forward RJ Godfrey Enters Transfer Portal for Second Time
College basketball sees a change. Georgia Bulldogs small forward RJ Godfrey rejoined the NCAA Transfer Portal for a second time, as On3 reports. He played with the Clemson Tigers before joining Georgia.
Godfrey is a three-star recruit from North Gwinnett High School in the Class of 2022. He ranked 186th nationally and was the 49th-best small forward, according to On3. He also ranked sixth among players from Georgia. Many SEC schools like Georgia, Auburn, and Ole Miss showed interest. Yet he chose Clemson from the ACC.
In the 2024-25 season, Godfrey played well for Georgia. He started 33 games and played about 19 minutes per game. He scored 6.4 points, grabbed 3.8 rebounds, and added 1.0 assist per game. He shot 53.2% from the field and hit 61.1% of his free throws. Still, he did not succeed from three-point range, missing all 11 attempts. On defense, he averaged 0.6 blocks and 0.6 steals per game.
Before joining Georgia, Godfrey played at Clemson. He appeared in 69 games over two seasons and started once. At Clemson, he averaged 12.6 minutes per game, scoring 4.7 points, collecting 2.8 rebounds, and giving 0.6 assists per game.
At Georgia, Godfrey played for head coach Mike White. White completed his third season and led the Bulldogs to their first NCAA Tournament appearance. Georgia ended the season with a 20-13 record, including an 8-10 mark in SEC play. They earned a nine seed in the tournament but lost to Gonzaga in the first round.
