Chattanooga Guard Honor Huff Transfers to West Virginia
The West Virginia Mountaineers gain a strong tool. Honor Huff, a Chattanooga point guard, now joins them. He entered the NCAA transfer portal. He brings one year of eligibility. He began his college journey at Virginia Military Institute.
Huff picked from five schools: Iowa, St. John’s, West Virginia, Vanderbilt, and Pittsburgh. He shone at Chattanooga. Last season he averaged 15.2 points per game, added 2.3 assists, and grabbed 1.8 rebounds. His play helped the Mocs win the National Invitation Tournament. In the final against UC Irvine, he scored 14 points in an overtime win.
Huff was on the Class of 2021. The On3 Industry Ranking did not list him. He molded his skills at the Perkiomen School in Pennsburg, Pennsylvania.
West Virginia also wins another transfer. Brenen Lorient comes from North Texas. Lorient played well with the Mean Green. He averaged 11.7 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 1.1 blocks in about 25 minutes per game. He shot 56.9% overall and 47.8% on threes, despite his 23 attempts all season. His top game was a 76-67 win over Temple, where he scored 20 points and grabbed 13 rebounds.
At Florida Atlantic University, Lorient played in 52 games over two seasons. In his sophomore year, he played in just 8.8 minutes per game and did not start. As a recruit at Calvary Christian Academy in Florida, he earned three stars. The On3 Industry Ranking placed him at No. 243 overall and No. 51 among power forwards in the 2022 class.
The Mountaineers grow stronger with Huff and Lorient. Their roster now looks set to compete this season.
