Flory Bidunga Transfer Portal Update: Auburn and Kansas as Front-Runners for Top Big Man
The college basketball transfer portal heats up. Flory Bidunga stands as a top big man. He now sees fewer options. Auburn and Kansas lead the chase. Analyst Travis Branham explains that Auburn takes strong steps to sign him. Kansas still hopes to bring him back.
Bidunga ranks No. 19 overall and as the No. 1 center in the portal. His choice this offseason draws much attention. Branham said, "There is a chance Flory Bidunga may return to Kansas. The Jayhawks sit high on their list." He added that Auburn now shows real strength in recruiting him. Bruce Pearl influences Auburn’s move. Auburn almost had him before and now gains speed.
Bidunga was a five-star prospect from Kokomo High School in Indiana. He ranked No. 14 nationally and was the No. 4 center in the class of 2024. He chose Kansas instead of Auburn, Duke, or Michigan. In his freshman season, he played 16.3 minutes per game. He averaged 5.9 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 1.6 blocks. He shot 69.8% from the field—all numbers that shine a light on his talent.
Analyst Isaac Trotter praised Bidunga’s rare physical tools. He said few players have what Bidunga shows. He shared minutes for the Jayhawks with veterans, such as Hunter Dickinson and KJ Adams. Bidunga still shone with flashes of extra talent. The 6-foot-9, 220-pound center drove rebounds every minute he played. He limited opponents to 50% shooting at the rim. His size, rim protection, and lively play suggest a smooth move to his next team.
Bidunga began his career with promise. He started as a backup to Dickinson. In early games, he played around 12 minutes each match. When conference play began, his minutes grew. From early 2023, he never played for less than 10 minutes in any game. He averaged 18.3 minutes over the season.
The highlight came when he replaced KJ Adams for five games. In four of those starts, Bidunga stepped up with strong stats. He averaged 11.3 points, 9.3 rebounds, and 2.5 blocks over nearly 29 minutes per game. Toward the end of the season, his numbers dropped. In his final seven games, he averaged 3.4 points and 4.0 rebounds.
With strong skills and build, Bidunga’s next decision in the transfer portal may change his path. Fans and experts will watch closely as his story unfolds.
