Michigan’s Dynamic Duo: Goldin and Wolf Defy Expectations on Path to Sweet 16
ATLANTA – Dusty May took charge as Michigan Wolverines head coach. He eyed FAU’s center Vladislav Goldin. He picked Yale’s standout center Danny Wolf too. May built his plan by linking both centers close together.
This season, doubts grew about how two tall centers would blend. Goldin and Wolf met those doubts head-on. They linked their efforts and pushed Michigan into the Sweet 16. They built a bond as they played together.
Today’s game needs quick moves and fast breaks. Michigan chose a different path. They put both 7-footers on the floor at once. Their skills bridged together well—a fact many had missed.
May set a clear plan and trusted both players to try it out. Though some doubted this idea, Goldin and Wolf joined in. Together, they helped the team exceed all expectations.
“A lot of credit goes to them,” May said. “They saw our plan even when it was hard to see at first. They dug in to find answers. Our other players helped with spacing, but Goldin and Wolf grabbed national attention because of their unique skills and strong link.”
Goldin ended the season with solid numbers, averaging 16.8 points, 7.0 rebounds, and 1.4 blocks. He proved he could succeed at a high level while sharing the court with another center. His gratitude shone through.
“I loved every minute with Danny,” Goldin said. “He is a great player and our work together was rare. I learned a lot from playing by his side.”
Wolf also put up strong numbers, with 13.0 points, 9.8 rebounds, and 3.6 assists each game. He now stands as a potential first-round pick for the 2025 NBA Draft. At his farewell press conference, emotion filled his words.
“Playing at Michigan was the greatest honor of my life,” Wolf said. “When Coach May and his staff trusted us and set a clear plan for Vlad and me, I had doubts. But their trust and our teammates’ support made all the difference.”
Both players saw their futures brighten, but the season was about more than just numbers. It built deep personal ties.
“I truly cherish my time here,” Wolf said. “This was the best year of my life with real, strong connections. I found lifelong brothers, and together we stood firm.”
Goldin and Wolf continue their journey, and their solid link has changed Michigan. Their story now shines as one of trust, effort, and teamwork as they aim for even greater heights.
