The Florida Lottery keeps it simple. Draw games and scratch-offs are what you can expect, but there are 11 draw games and almost 100 different types of scratchers by denomination, so there is no shortage of things to play.
The Sunshine State Lottery helps fund education initiatives across the state and has done so since the late 1980s. The total is approaching $50 billion in money sent to education coffers and the lotto is approaching $100 billion paid out in prizes. There have been well over 3,000 millionaires as a result of the lotto games as well.
The Florida Lottery is for players 18 and over.
Florida Lottery Games
The Florida Lottery only offers draw games and scratch-offs, as mentioned above, so you won’t find Keno, iGaming, or sports betting. However, Florida is part of the major multi-state draw games like Powerball and Mega Millions and has several draw games of their own that are exclusive to the state.
You will find some big Jackpots and big top prizes with the state’s games.
Florida Lottery Draw Games
Powerball
Florida is one of 45 states that participates in Powerball. The Sunshine state was one of two to join Powerball in 2009, along with Arkansas.
Drawings are around 11 p.m. ET on Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday, with ticket sales cut off at 10 p.m.
Numbers 1 through 69 and the red Powerball ranging from 1 to 26 are drawn and matching all of them up wins the Jackpot, which begins at $20 million and increases if there is no top prize winner. Tickets cost $2 with a Power Play option for an additional $1 for every $2 wagered.
Mega Millions
Florida is also one of 42 states to participate in Mega Millions, which is drawn at 11 p.m. ET on Tuesday and Friday. Ticket sales also cut off at 10 p.m. on drawing nights for this game as well.
Florida was actually one of the later adopters of this game, joining in 2013. Only Mississippi and Wyoming joined later among the states that offer the game.
Numbers 1 through 70 are drawn and the special Mega Ball ranges from 1 to 25. Tickets cost $2 apiece for this game as well and a $1 Megaplier add-on is available.
Florida Lotto X with Double Play
Florida Lotto X is the state’s exclusive big lotto draw, with numbers picked on Wednesdays and Saturdays at 11:15 p.m. ET. Ticket sales don’t cut off for that drawing until 10:55 p.m.
The base ticket price costs $2 and the starting Jackpot is $1 million, with a prize that increases if nobody wins it. There is a $1 Double Play option with a bonus drawing to win up to $250,000 and there is also the EZmatch to try and win instantly.
The numbers range from 1 to 53 in this game and the Double Play add-on gives you another line with the same numbers on your main game, but a separate six-number draw takes place, so the state selects 12 numbers total. Matching those numbers with your numbers is an additional chance to win.
Cash 4 Life
Florida does not participate in the national Lucky For Life game, but has its own in-house version with the same rules and the same prize. Winners of this game get $1,000 a day for life if they can match all five numbers plus the Cash Ball. The Cash Ball is only from 1 to 4, while the other numbers are from 1 to 60.
Drawings are daily at 9 p.m. ET and ticket sales end at 8:30 p.m. The base ticket costs $2 and there are no additional add-ons.
Jackpot Triple Play with Combo
On Tuesdays and Fridays at 11:15 p.m. ET, the Jackpot Triple Play game is drawn. Sales end at 10:55 on drawing nights for this game, where six numbers are drawn from 1 through 46.
Each ticket costs $1 and features three lines worth of numbers. There is also a Combo add-on for $1 that allows you to combine the winning numbers from all three sets for a chance at the $10,000 top prize.
The Jackpot for this game starts at $250,000 and increases if no top prize winners are drawn.
You must match at least three numbers in a line for some sort of prize or five numbers with the combo feature. If you match four numbers, you get a free ticket for the next available draw.
Cash Pop
Cash Pop drawings are held five times a day, with 8:45 a.m., 11:45 a.m., 2:45 p.m., 6:45 p.m., and 11:45 p.m. ET. Fifteen numbers are on the ticket and you can pick as many as you want. The cost of the ticket and the prize amounts vary by how many numbers you pick. You can also play up to 10 consecutive draws on one ticket.
Each base ticket costs $1 with a top prize up to $2,500 for a $10 Cash Pop play. The top prize for a $1 play is $250. The prize amount is randomly selected by the lottery terminal for the corresponding number.
Fantasy 5 with EZmatch
Afternoon and evening drawings are available with Fantasy 5. This game also has the EZmatch feature like Lotto X where you can win an instant prize. Drawings are at 1:05 p.m. and 11:15 p.m. ET and ticket sales close about 20 minutes prior to the number selection.
The drawings are daily with this game and consist of five numbers ranging from 1 to 36. The EZmatch randomly picks out numbers and corresponding prize amounts for another chance to win.
Each Fantasy 5 base ticket is $1 and the EZmatch option is another dollar. The top prize is around $100,000.
Pick 5 plus Fireball
The Pick 5 features a top prize of up to $50,000 and there are Afternoon and Evening drawings, at 1:30 p.m. and 9:45 p.m. ET, respectively. Five numbers are drawn with digits ranging from 0 to 9 and a Fireball bonus ball that allows you to replace one of the official five numbers drawn.
Each base ticket costs 50 cents or $1 and the Fireball option is a $1 add-on. It doubles the price of your base bet, but also creates more winning combinations.
You can play the Pick 5 Straight, Boxed, or a Straight/Box combination to bet on both options.
Ticket sales close 12 minutes before the draw.
Pick 4 plus Fireball
The Pick 4 is the exact same concept as the Pick 5, just with four numbers. The Fireball once again replaces one of the official numbers drawn.
Aside from one fewer ball, ticket sales for Pick 4 end 10 minutes before the 1:30 p.m. and 9:45 p.m. draws. Also, the top prize is up to $5,000.
Also, you can play Straight, Box, Straight/Box, or a Combo, which features Front Pair, Mid Pair, and Back Pair. The base ticket is 50 cents or $1, but your wager depends on the number of ways to win that you choose to play.
Pick 3 plus Fireball
The Pick 3 is the same as the Pick 5 and Pick 4, just with three numbers. The Fireball replaces one of the official numbers drawn if you choose that option.
The draw times are the same and ticket sales end 11 minutes before the drawing.
Along with Straight, Box, and Straight/Box wagering, you can play a Combo of Front Pair or Back Pair. Plays start at 50 cents or $1 and go up from there based on the number of ways you want to try to win. The Fireball is an extra $1 add-on.
Pick 2 plus Fireball
Pick 2 is a rarity for lotteries in the U.S., as many start at Pick 3 and go up from there. Sales close 13 minutes before the 1:30 p.m. and 9:45 p.m. draws with this game.
Straight, Box, Straight/Box, and then betting on the Front or Back number is offered for this game, with tickets starting at 50 cents or $1. The Fireball is an extra $1 add-on.
Florida Lottery Scratch-Offs
